Our work / Case study

Field service tracking for MLB Supply & Services.

MLB’s crews repair oil hoses and pumps out of their trucks. We built the app they log every job in, so the owner sees parts, miles and hours as the work happens.

What we built
Web app for crews and the office

Built for the truck, not the desk.

A field service business runs on what happens away from the office: which parts came off which truck, how far a crew drove, how long a repair took. If that is hard to enter, it does not get entered, and jobs end up billed from memory.

So the app was designed around a crew member on a phone at a job site: short forms, large buttons, and the parts list from their own truck.

What we built.

  • Job logs from the field

Crews record parts used, mileage and labor against a job from their phone.

  • Inventory per truck

Each truck carries its own stock count, which drops as parts are logged and is topped up from the office.

  • Cost per job, rolled up

Parts, mileage and labor add up on each job at the business’s own rates, so billing starts from real numbers.

  • A view for every role

The owner, office staff, view-only users and truck crews each see what they need and nothing more.

  • Daily log emails

Each day’s logs are emailed to the office automatically.

  • Owner job controls

Jobs can be renamed, closed, reopened or moved without losing their history.

Where it stands.

The app is live for MLB’s crews and office.

We keep improving it with them, and the rule for every change is the same: fewer steps for the crew, not more features.
